"Dear Lisa, we are back in the not so sunny UK and just wanted to send you a note to say thanks for such a wonderful holiday in your lovely villa!
Everything was perfect from the welcome pack and the lovely clean villa on our arrival to the flexibility of the late check out. It really was one of the best family holidays that we have had and the setting of the villa was no small part of that; we loved being in the forest surrounded by the wildlife and you seem to have gained a couple of pet Goats that took a liking to your plants and so you may want to think about that before your vineyard is too established!
Fiskardo is beautiful village and with the stunning scenery of the hills and the other islands around it is something that really adds up to a perfect location.
I'm sure that we will wish to return and could even end up buying our own retirement home there so who knows, one day we may be neighbours!"
Thanks again from, Mike S and family
"We stayed at this magnificent villa in July. It was outstanding.
The location was perfect, the view truly incredible, the sunsets just gorgeous, no need to travel anywhere to see sunsets, you had the best view from your deck. The infinity pool was a hit with the kids.
And it's the little things that count. When we arrived, we were greeted with a bottle of wine, bread, cheeses, a platter of cold meats, olives, honey - you name it, Lisa - Mari the owner, had supplied it.
The villa is spectacular, 3 very generous sized bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and laundry, 4 bathrooms. It is an exceptional villa with every amenity you could want.
Thank you very much Lisa- Mari for allowing us to stay at your magnificent home. We will definitely be back!"
Beautiful, tranquil villa with outstanding views - Stayed as a couple - Sept 2017
Having never been to Kefalonia and after lots of research my partner and I decided we'd prefer to be towards the North of the island.
We were looking for somewhere that felt like a good base to explore some of the places we were keen to visit; Fiscardo, Myrtos Beach, Assos, Agia Efimia etc.
Villa Elysium seemed to fit our requirements, and while probably a little extravagant for just a couple, was absolutely worth it. Throughout the booking process Lisa (owner) was extremely helpful and patient, always responding very promptly to queries and genuinely keen for feedback as they've only been renting out the villa for a short period. On the island the property is managed by a professional team (Ionian Property Services) who are always on hand for queries and any services.
Lisa also had some great suggestions of what to do on the island, some of which we may not have tried without her but we're so glad we did.
The villa itself is just like the photos you see, though they can't really do the place justice, you really have to see it. It is very spacious and modern, everything you could wish for has been thought of. On arrival there was a local platter of delicious food for us in the fridge and a welcome bottle of wine, plus the basics like some fresh bread and milk, along with coffee, tea etc. Little touches like this makes it just that little bit easier to settle in.
As our week progressed, we came to realise just how conveniently located the villa is...and what a draw it is to come back to! Everything we wanted to visit (except for a slightly longer trip to Agia Efimia and on to the Drogarati cave) was well within a short drive. Lisa had suggested we try a small place in the local village (Antipata) called Picnic for Sunday breakfast, the eggs benedict being a bit of an institution apparently. Well all I can say is that after Sunday's egg benedict we went back to Picnic nearly every morning for breakfast, you could walk there from the villa, or it's a 2 minute drive. Picnic must serve the best breakfasts on the island, from local yoghurt with muesli and honey, through to the most indulgent thick pancakes, with syrup, figs and marscapone.
Fiscardo was a 5-7min drive away, with all it's quaint waterfront tavernas, Melina's is a lovely place to have an afternoon coffee and cake as the yachts gently roll in and out of the harbour. Lisa's suggestion of Dafnoudi beach (again only 5 mins drive away) was also excellent, certainly our favourite beach though perhaps in part due to the fact it's a good 10 min walk from parking to get there and for that reason is quite quiet.
We also ate twice at Acqua, a restaruant at Alaties Beach (20 mins drive away), again on recommendation from Lisa but also noted it was No.2 on TripAdvisor for the whole island. People go there for the beach, of course, and superb fresh local food, all served up with views of the sun setting.
However, if a spectacular sunset is what you're after, our advice would be to say why bother going out! Just fire up the BBQ at the villa, enjoy the evening sun in the infinity pool, kick back and relax in stunning scenery. Seriously there can't be many a better place to watch the sun go down on the island, completely uninterrupted views in complete privacy. The villa is so nice, so enticing, so comfortable that we spent 3 of our absolutely favourite nights just there. Provisions are easily obtained in the well stocked local store at Maganos, a village only 5mins drive away, everything you could need to do some simple cooking at the villa.
We'll go again to Kefalonia, we loved the island. I think we'd find it hard to go back anywhere other than Villa Elysium, I just imagine anything else might leave me a little disappointed.
